Since the use of the Internet and online services is growing at dramatic rates and
the interactive medium was growing in very unpredictable ways, AOL managers believed
that it was important for the company to develop principles to guide the public regarding
the Internet. Steve Case believed that companies like AOL could police themselves and
could shape the interactive medium to serve the public interest:
Strengths
1. Creating a better environment for online consumers. Safeguarding children, protecting privacy, enforcing security and ensuring fair tax treatment of online purchases.
2. Increased traffic to purchase items online. With many brands to offer.
3. Well know to all.
4. People spend more time online with the price being better.
5. Children are learning how to use the computer, more advanced.
6. Merge: The merge will help the next decade for the computer age and financial position.
7. Using a promotional in the movie industry.

Weaknesses
1. A weakness is the libraries across the United States. As a kid I learned to look up books and articles at the library. What kind of state will become of the libraries?
2. People’s reaction to merger.
3. Many people of cost issues once again.
4. AOL had issues with marketing. Too aggressive.
5. Too many new subscribers at one time.
6. They were down for 19 hours at a time.
7. NBA sued AOL
8. The accounting process was not organized.
9. Amount of AOL was 50 times higher than companies total profits in the 5 years combined.
