I. Government
A. The Unites States government is bicameral legislature consisting of the House of Representatives and the Senate; there is a separation state and federal government; two political parties dominate Congress: the Republican party and the Democratic party
B. The Philippine government is bicameral legislature consisting to the House of Representatives and the Senate; most government offices are located in Quezon City; the Philippines is divided into 72 provinces and they are divided into municipalities
II. Education
A. In the U.S. students begin elementary school at age 5 and continue through age 17 or 18; after graduation students continues their education at a university, through vocational training, or in the military
B. In the Philippines students begin kindergarten at 5 and continue through age 16 or 17; high school includes one year of military training
III. Health
A. Each state in the U.S. is responsible for its own health care; high medical prices are high, therefore, people have private insurance; U.S. is a world leader in medical training and research

B. Medical service in the Philippines sometimes be deficient due to lack of supplies; there is a universal health-care; vaccinations are offered to children at no price; health hazards are cause by poor sanitation and poverty
IV. Recreation
A. In the United States of America sports are a large factor in how leisure time
is spent; other recreational activities include theater, traveling, and going to the movies
B. In the Philippines many people go to movies, gamble, attend cock fights and
horse races; sports are played on Sunday only
